
The Detroit Lions will put on their black alternate uniforms and Honolulu blue helmets after they host the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday night (8:20 p.m. ET on NBC) with the NFC North division title on the road.
This marks the third look for the alternate uniforms this season, because the Lions wore them in a 42-29 win over the Seattle Seahawks on Sept. 30 and a 48-42 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Dec. 15.
They have been initially scheduled to put on their Fifties throwback uniforms this night, however determined this week to put on the black alternate uniforms as a substitute, marking the primary time since 2016 that the throwback threads received’t be worn.
The choice to put on black shouldn’t come as a shock, although, because the uniforms have been thought-about a reward from head coach – and former participant – Dan Campbell after they won their first division title in 30 years last season.
The black uniforms function Honolulu blue numbers outlined in silver beneath a “Lions” wordmark and sleeves stripes which are paying homage to the racing stripes on a Ford Mustang and the vertical bars in their 1961-69 logo.
The Honolulu blue helmets function an identical striping sample down the middle, in addition to Bubbles – Detroit’s main brand’s nickname – rendered in black and silver on the perimeters. The seems is full with plain black pants and socks.
