Kengo Kuma and Associates took inspiration from the “ethereal magnificence” of classical Japanese Noh theatre of their design of the Banyan Tree hotel in Kyoto, which features a stage discreetly nestled inside its terraced gardens.
Commenters praised the challenge for its “stunning timber joinery”, whereas one other described it as “a deal with of subtle simplicity”.

Different tales on this week’s publication that fired up the feedback part included Foster + Partners’ designs for the Tempo development in Brazil, a brick apartment block in London by Gort Scott and a series of homes for residents with substance abuse problems and psychiatric diagnoses in Norway.
