To rejoice their long-standing affiliation with the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins — in addition to scratch a nostalgic itch for any child who grew up watching hockey within the Nineteen Nineties — the Wheeling Nailers are trotting out one in all their guardian membership’s most well-known (notorious?) jersey designs.
The West Virginia ECHL crew unveiled the jerseys on their social media channels on Thursday, February 6, and can put on them on Pittsburgh Penguins Evening on Saturday, February 8, in opposition to the Studying Royals.
The jerseys are virtually a precise replication of the “RoboPenguin” jerseys that the Penguins first launched as a 3rd jersey in 1995, then wore as their full time street jersey from 1997 to 2002. The bottom of the jersey is black, with a gradient gold stripe popping out from behind the Nailers’ brand on the best aspect of the chest and a gray stripe with white pinstripes inside on the left aspect of the chest.

These stripes proceed round to the again of the jersey, the place they merge collectively below the participant’s quantity, which is white with black and gold outlines. Names on the again are one-color white.

The shoulders function triangular gray panels with gold pinstripes working by them. The proper cuff has angled gold and white stripes above a gray panel, whereas the left cuff has a gray panel with white pinstripes by them.

The jerseys have been pictured in Thursday’s announcement with black helmets, black gloves and strong black socks. The pants mimic these worn by the Penguins at present, with a black base, a tapering gold stripe outlined in white, and the Pens’ skating penguin brand on the best leg.
Sport-worn jerseys are being auctioned off online through Handbid, with bids open till 9 p.m. ET on Saturday, February 8.
Together with the jerseys, Nailers followers may have the possibility to satisfy Penguins legend and two-time Stanley Cup champions Kevin Stevens on Pittsburgh Penguins Evening. Puck drop on Saturday on the WesBanco Area in Wheeling, West Virginia, is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. ET.
